1994 THE PATH TO GENESIS

"Come to Niseko, it's just dangerous."

These were the words of Taro Tamai, who would later found GENTEMSTICK, to photographer Yoshiro Higai. The sessions of snowboarders led by Higai and Tamai that began in the winter of 1994 accelerated on a journey filled with a pioneering and adventurous spirit that took them to Niseko, Alaska, Mongolia, Siberia, and other places. The numerous photographs in this book tell the story of the uncompromisingly intense interaction between photographer and skier.

This is a snowboarding documentary by Yoshiro Higai that captures the period before and after the start of GENTEMSTICK, the GENESIS of pure and sublime modern snowsurfing that had everything in each and every turn, leading up to the modern era.
